Summary | Status: indeterminate (Category IV), little studied, it is a rare relict species, distributed from southern Siberia to Mongolia and the Far East. It nests in areas with high humidity and rich vegetation. The size of the Asian dowitcher population in Kazakstan is unknown, but the total number does not exceed 5,000 to 6,000 individuals distri-buted along the eastern border in the Altay Mountains. In order to preserve this spe-cies, it will be necessary to locate and protect existing nesting areas and establish effective conservation and education programs. The development of artificial breeding methods is also important. |
