Summary | Status: rare (Category III), but stable in number. The black stork is widespread in various types of mountainous and forested areas of Kazakstan. At least 150 pairs have been observed, mainly in the Altai, Dzungar Alatau and Tian Shan mountains. Black storks are not tolerant of human presence near its nesting areas. Therefore, it is necessary to establish protected zones around each active nest. |
