Summary | Status: indeterminate (Category IV). In Kazakstan this lizard is found in the Lake Zaysan and Lake Alakol Basins and along the middle and lower part of the Ili River. Recent research indicates that its habitat is wider than previously thought and includes both valleys and mountains that it shares with the green toad (Bufo viridis). Captive and artifical breeding strategies have not yet been developed nor has a comprehensive protection strategy been worked out. It is necessary to study its distribution, population size, biology and ecological interrelationship with the closely-related green toad. |
